"As a sales person, I can genuinely say that this company takes good care of its employees AND customers. Some customers slip through the cracks, some sales people are toxic, but that's retail. You, as an employee, are given very fair (non commission) wages, the customers are mostly great (who in the industry doesn't want to be a small part of someone's love story?), and there's small bonuses based on customer satisfaction (online reviews, comment cards that are sent directly to the ceo), not sales numbers. I love this company, more than the custom jewelry place I worked at recently, more than the big name department store I trudged through, more than the bookstore I loved and grew up in, they love their team and people more than the numbers, and if you fit the culture and team, you know you'll retire from this company. You leave every workday with more than just numbers and pay in mind. You talk to friends and SO about the stories. The couple who buried all of their parents in the same year and are finally moving on together. The 25 year anniversary. The 60 year anniversary. The guy who has never thought of buying jewelry for anyone and just wants to buy fine jewelry for his favorite person and buys a necklace that embodies his or her quirkiness and attitude, or who gets their wedding rings engraved with an inside joke you will never personally understand. All in all, the only thing I can say that could be considered negative is that the managers work too hard and are super intimidating when you first start interacting with customers. I will retire from this company, many decades from now, and will probably be the person who is told to retire, because I want to keep working and growing with this company and just can't ever call it quits."
"Shane Co for sure pays well for the industry. It is however a very cookie cutter environment; you must sell in a specific way unlike other sales jobs in order to be successful. Also, it is a plus if you like to get feedback multiple times a day regarding every single thing you do. The lack of advancement opportunity is a negative if you are looking for growth potential."
"I would recommend this company for anyone to start their career in the world of sales."
