4.4I was an office administrator for 1 year hired by an organization that works in the city of San Francisco for a six-month training period. You then receive a certificate which helps obtain full-time work. Although it was a bit frustrating teaching the next-in-line employees as I prepared for my departure, it was a rewarding team-oriented job with interesting people both in the office and the customers that we provided curbs for. I was able to get two 3-month extensions as well. The official name of the role is Public Service Trainees and I trained the ones who took over for me. The pay is average but the management always answered my questions (worked remotely entirely, went into the office one time per week).

3I worked with the SFMTA for 8 years. It was overall a decent but not outstanding experience. Like many public sector agencies, many of their programs are woefully out-of-date and they cling to practices that should have long been renovated. The benefits are good and can assist with the high living expenses. If you are looking to move up the ladder make sure you understand the office politics and the agency's structure to make sure you are in the right unit.
4.1I worked for SFMTA for 8 years as their HR Leader. The Agency is a government/public agency and mostly operates that way. It is currently in a culture change process and is attempting to move to a more progressive and responsive model. They are heading in the right direction and staff seems to be excited about the change.
