Skillset: Many technical leads have strong backgrounds in basic electrical work, mechanics and machinery repair. Computer software operation, technical production and an ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively are desirable skills for a person in this profession. Mathematical skills and leadership skills are also desirable.
Education: A formal degree is not always required to be a technical lead if a person has served as an apprentice or has a significant amount of quality work experience in the industry. Many times, companies will require a vocational technical degree or a bachelors degree in a tech-related field that may include computer science or mechanics.
Career Path: A great foundation for a technical lead career is based on a thorough understanding of machinery, computers and repair techniques. Quality control assurance and basic engineering courses are recommended.
