"Writing code and keeping a database is the best of both worlds. Usually you have to separate the database and the code into separate worlds. Most developers don't know a thing about making a database run efficiently. Having my hands in both makes the best combination in my opinion."

"Majority of the development is complete. New opportunities are becoming limited. Excessive hours."

"Branch into other industries to apply SAAS solution. Bring in qualified support staff."

"Good engineering applications to develop. Rewarding work keeping the lights."

"Nothing unusual. Be yourself. Be honest. Be positive. NU has great opportunities. More opening coming, since many older workers will be retiring over next few years and management positions will open up."

What don't you like about working at Northeast Utilities?

"On call 180 days a years. Called in for on call work when not on call. Insufficent staff to get work done in a timely manner. Reducing staff and funding for work to keep stock dividends high."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Invest in more staff and systems. Focus on reliability of power system more than profit margin."
