"I crave the challenges of software development, but I am not thrilled with the direction the development world is going. For example, using languages like Java and C#, offer you no REAL challenges. All of the CODE that we used to get paid good money to write is now all just in a library ready for you to call it, offering little to NO challenge. It seems there is less and less need for an APPLICATIONS developer, and more demand for a web developers, who can design awesome UI's."

"One of the benefits of being the Senior Developer is that I get to boss everyone around! I get the final say in deployment and most coding projects for the department, but there is a major drawback. If it's broken, I have to fix it! This means having the ever-expanding knowledge base of an entry-level programmer who just finished learning HTML5 to the horribly outdated knowledge of a twenty-year veteran who still writes FORTRAN. I must be a true jack of all trades."

When I first started at NodeFly, before the acquisition by StrongLoop, the code was a bit hackish, but it was typical prototype hackish and they fully acknowledged it. When better ways were suggested to do things, they were completely open to the new ideas."
