"I Worked for Sears Holdings from 04/1999 to 03/2019. It was a great company to work for until it went bankrupt. During my long career with Sears I was hoping to retire there. Unfortunately the bankruptcy situation did not allow me to do so."

"I have worked for sears for almost a year now and I see multiple flaws in the way they perceive how work should be accomplished. There are far, far to many metrics for sales associate's to meet (pa's, credit apps) even if a customer does not want one of these, you will end up getting in trouble for not selling it. Sears also does not believe in giving their own employees raises. I suppose it must be for the simple fact that we do not get the chance to enjoy the luxuries of working in the corporate building. On top of that most of the workers there are expected to do highly to much for the small pay that they do receive. A MCA that makes minimum wage is expected to do a weeks worth of work in one day, this is highly outrageous."

"Worked for Sears for 4 years; dissatisfied with the employment. Pay cuts due to "incentive programs," digital devices, lack of customer and employee care, poor management on both the store and local level. When I was told that "customer service doesn't matter, just the numbers", I decided that my time at Sears was up and immediately resigned. Would not recommend this place to work or shop."

"I have been employed as Sears for a little over a year. This is a base pay plus commissions with a minimum of minimum wage if you don't achieve enough in commissions. There is a bonus plan monthly which is 1% of total sales for month if you achieve 125% of your sales, PA and Attachment objectives. Regular commission is roughly 1.5% of sales (no commission is paid for some department sales, although those sales count for your days sales objectives. Overall the company is not a bad place to work."

What do you like about working at Sears?

"I enjoy interacting with some of my fellow associates who are quite interesting and cool people. I also enjoy selling (I work on commission), but only in the fact that I'm making more money, and I feel like I'm earning that money with hard work and smarts. I kind of feel like my own boss some days, and I enjoy that."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You're there to get a job where they could care less about you and your future. Just know what they need to fill that role and be that."

What don't you like about working at Sears?

"I do not enjoy low pay. I feel like I put a lot of work into what I do at Sears, and there is not a ton of reward sometimes. I also feel like I am not moving anywhere (which I am not), so that is depressing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would promote a more long-term employee kind of thing. Currently, Sears seems to be extremely self-serving, and selfish. My interests don't seem to be their problem in the slightest."

What don't you like about working at Sears?

"Sears was moving away from the customer focus and creating policies that made it more difficult to effectively do my job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest that you take a look at your past and find ways to grasp the concept that make Sears a great company."

"I was only a seasonal employee and wished it was a permanent position."

What do you like about working at Sears?

"I was the only female to work in the tools department who actually knew what I was talking about. I loved impressing the male customers who always tend to underestimate the pretty blonde."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Hope you love to up-sell. Sears won't take no for an answer."

What don't you like about working at Sears?

"I disliked the up-selling techniques that we had to use during Christmas. I had to talk for three minutes before I was allowed to ring up the customer's items. Most would leave."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest less up-selling of so many different deals at once."

"Be prepared to give up control of your time, especially for part-time."

What don't you like about working at Sears?

"I don't like the demands put on employees to sell credit cards, send shopping recaps, and create store to home internet orders. I hate retail hours, and we need more than four day's notice of our ever-changing schedule."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Give employees a set work schedule, and do more field studies before setting matrices."
