"SSRS CNA's totally get jerked around by Scripps. We have to do TB testing, Safe Patient Movement class, respirator fit testing and other required tasks outside of normally scheduled hours. For the respirator fit and TB test we don't even get paid. I frequently only get a 10 minute morning break and a 30 minute lunch but not the other two ten minute breaks I am legally entitled to. My initial orientation with my new boss, 2 hrs long, was unpaid. The nurses and site based CNA's are not helpful or friendly and have told me they don't give me breaks because "you're just sitting down all day anyway". When brought to management and HR notice have been told nobody else has this problem, even though SSRS CNA's frequently share stories of the lack of breaks we receive. When I have asked for additional training have been told by nurses that they aren't interested in training SSRS, they don't want to "waste" the resources on us. We are the first ones to get flexed and must use our PTO to make up any hours. Sick time is short term disability which is hard to use, you must be out 3 consecutive days and have a Dr. note. The extra dollar differential doesn't make up for this lack of respect."
