What do you like about working at Scrap Girls?

"It was wonderfully exciting to come up with an idea for an Internet company, build it out, and see it become a profitable industry-leader. I loved working and mentoring my team to success. I loved being able to get new ideas and make them happen quickly. I loved working with such a large group of diverse individuals, located all over the world. I enjoyed the friendships I made and building a close, family, fun environment for my team. I loved the E-Commerce environment because it gave me lots of opportunities to receive consumer feedback about what we were (or were not) doing right."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I would say that applicants should present how they can help the company instead of focusing on what they would get out of being hired. I interviewed and hired a lot of people over the years and it always surprised me how often people asked how much money they would earn even before they applied!"

What don't you like about working at Scrap Girls?

"Because I was the CEO, the buck stopped with me. I liked being the CEO, but it was a lot of responsibility - unique responsibility. When times get tough, the CEO feels the stress more than most."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"If I was going to give myself advice, based on my experience with my company, I would say that I need to take better care of myself. I love to work its fun. But I need to remember to have other fun. I rated how I got along with the team a 4 because the leader of the company sometimes, has to make decisions that other people dont like. It comes with the territory. It would be unrealistic to rate it as a 5."
