"Scholastic is an excellent place to work. They foster team development, career development, and technology development. You have the ability to not only grow professionally but will also develop excellent soft skills, personal and communications skills."
"I started working for Scholastic from Feb 2018 .It was very good learning phase and helped in My future . I was working with application leads and Manger where everyone got attention on me .On boarding new technologies in our digital world ."
"It is a geat company to work for with great work culture."
"Management is just concerned with $. They mismanage projects, go over budget, release people and outsource work. They are not concerned with people and go around on Fridays taking attendance. Many more professional organizations out there."
"They are a fantastic team and just an awesome group of people, one of my favorite places so far but to keep up with current technology and challenge myself it was time...."
"I've worked with Scholastic for past 5 years."
"I worked for SBF for over 2 years. Their unique business model has sustained them for many years, and their success in their specialty market is unprecedented. My time with them helped them to re-shape their IT resource plans and to reduce costs, while clearing out a large backlog in their new systems requests. The staff was knowledgeable and experienced and the culture was family friendly as you could expect. The Scholastic Culture comes through in their products, their marketing, and in their office life."
"I have been with Scholastic for the past 6 years. Scholastic is historically a book publisher who has been playing catch-up in the world of software. I started out in Quality Assurance, leading projects and training new employees. When the Performance Team was formed, I pushed internally to shift into Performance Testing. The framework for making such a move did not exist in any structured manor. However, management was instrumental in backing my move into Performance Engineering."
"I worked 2 years as a software manager at Scholastic. 85% of the employees are contractors. There is no opportunity for a permanent position unless you are senior management. There is a class system between the perms and the contractors. The company has zero money to spend on anything, the physical plant is totally heinous. Its a civil-war era brick building full of mold, asbestos and who knows what else. The management team doesn't care about anyone and they are outsourcing everything."
"Certain business units within this company do not value its employees. Period."
"I started with Scholastic Inc. over 9 years ago and at that time Scholastic was more employee loyalty focused and as the time passed along with management the IT focus moved toward more business/profit driven model."
"I worked at Scholastic Inc. Finance Department under a 6 month contract."
"Scholastic was a fine company to work for, though almost all employees are contract temps so you may be out of work shortly after a product ships or just a few months after for bug fixes and patches once the public starts using the software. And as you get farther from release date, there becomes less and less work to do, teams get merged and then there is nothing to do."
"Very fun place to work. I loved the whole team. Everyone is very friendly and easy to approach. The team is very supportive of its members and they are very tight knit. It helps because there is a high volume of work to be done and the techs get 40-50 calls daily not including walk-ins."
"I have worked for Scholastic since April of 2013 and the work environment and professionalism is very good."
