"Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to live and work if you can afford the price tag. The Santa Barbara County Employees Retirement System (SBCERS) is a good place to work until you master the subject matter. Unfortunately it is still Government and the room for upward mobility is extremely limited or non-existent."
"Cronyism, retaliatory, discriminatory, and arrogant describes management."

What don't you like about working at Santa Barbara County?
"The corporate culture, retaliatory nature of management, and the pure disregard for employees and their families; which is standard procedure if you are not among the select few favorites. If you if are 30 years or older, or have any type of work experience you will not be hired in a technical position; and if you are already with the agency you will not be promoted if you are over 40."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I don't see the point to this question in that if you make suggestions to management they will disregard it if it does not satisfy their greed or purpose (whatever that is). Furthermore, if you push your suggestion you will be retaliated against and find yourself with even more unbearable working conditions than before. However, it would make the agency a much better place if employees' were actually given straight forward feedback rather than making them miserable with mind games and passive aggressive behavior until they either resign or have a mental breakdown from the bullying."
