"Great compensation but no flexibility."
"It was a good place to learn new skills for my career growth"
"It is an amazing opportunity to be apart of an innovative company like Samsung Electronics, I have learned first hand what it means to be great from some truly amazing and talented people that I have worked with over the years. I have learned what it means to lead, the value of ownership, the understanding of accountability and have gained a lot of friends along the way. The expectation of zero mistakes while constantly being surrounded in a high-level intense environment elevated my work ethic."
"I've been with SAS for 3+ years now. It is a good company to work for within the semiconductor industry, but it shares many of the same issues that exist in the industry as a whole. One plus about the company is that it does show some loyalty to its employees by avoiding layoffs, but it also expects long hours."
"Very successful and important company."
"I joined in Samsung Austin R&D Center as Machine Learning Intern in May 2019. Its a great experience for me till now and my internship period ends in January 2020. Under the leadership of manager and mentor, I learned a lot of new things both in the hardware and software domain."
"Working for Samsung you have to get used to constant change and aggressive goals. Good training program and coworkers are friendly. There is plenty of work to be done and everyone is responsible for their own success."
"Poor work life balance. Built in 50+ hours per week"
"I've worked for Samsung Austin Semiconductor for 3.5 years. In my time there, I was privileged to be surrounded by great talent and technology. I got along well with my co-workers and always had fun and challenging projects to work on."
"Korean oversight limits innovation."
"AP mass production for 32nm and beyond. People work hard. This manufacturing site has to follow directions from HQ (S. Korea)."
"Horribly siloed and the worst management system possible. If you are just looking for a paycheck then... no, stay away regardless. Absolutely abhorrent manufacturing systems. Austin has NO say in the technology, it is completely controlled by Korea. Korea has literally zero sense of design for manufacturability, which in combination with zero accountability for that from Korea, sets Austin up for failure. At 14 nm this is 100% disastrous. There is not a single individual in my group who is happy with anything outside of having a job in a crappy economy in a cyclical industry."
"Fun company to work for. Nice location. Very high tech. Competitive salary."
"I have worked for Samsung for 3 years. Great opportunity to develop my skills. Mentored several engineers and have grown and been promoted within my department based on the success of my teams and equipment metrics. I believe I have reached a point where more promotions are difficult to achieve due to cultural barrier. In addition the work life balance has not been good for several months now."
"Worked at SAS since 2011. Lower managers are usually good, but upper management is incredibly disconnected from the rest of the company. Work life balance is not great, but seems to be getting somewhat better. Most engineers are in their early 20s which is a plus for new graduates. Possibly the worst systems ever created. Days are often spent fighting the ridiculous system limitations and bureaucracy."
