"I worked for Sally Beauty supply for several years. Though I was happy with my position and ecstatic with my co-workers, supervisors, and staff, I had the desire to further my potential and position in life. I decided to further my education at Drexel University and this obligation conflicted with my ability to perform my job."

"Sally beauty is a nice place to shop at and you can receive great customer service from us but the same qualities are not shared with its employees. The lack of space, time management is lacking since there are no roles, training lacks since you are placed in you potion and expected to understand after one day"

"Worked for Sally for just under a year. The benefits, as far as gratis goes, were great. That being said, there were many issues I had with the company. In my one year there, a store in my district had a store manager change 4 times. The first girl walked out, the second lady was a con-artist, and the third one walked out as well. Upper management is extremely overbearing and stalker-like. The company pays terribly, but there is room to move up, but the pay increase isn't even worth it. I think all in all the highest salary of a store manager in my district was something around $10 an hour. Ouch! Also, the customers in my area were AWFUL. They literally verbally abused the employees, especially when they didn't get their way because of the very restricted return policies."

"In joining the Sally Beauty company, I was given the opportunity to gain new knowledge and to try something new. Starting out, their training is by far not efficient or effective as there is little to none. My manager was incredibly scattered and did not answer almost any question that I had when I asked them. Throughout my employment, there was obvious favoritism taking place between the manager and another coworker. Both of them were well-seasoned employees (both have been at Sally’s for 5+ years) who did nothing more than sit in the backroom talking instead of helping their coworkers on the sales floor. There was almost no communication between the manager and the associates and often ended in the associates getting backlash for the under-communication from the manager. The manager did absolutely nothing to help the associates to thrive and excel and only sought to belittle them. There is also absolutely no chance to move up in their ranks and the raises are mere pennies if you’re lucky enough to have the DM (who you will most likely never meet) couches for you. Overall, this is not the job for someone who is wanting a stimulating job that will fill their head with knowledge."

"Sally Beauty Holdings has gone through multiple transitions. This lean approach has really put some departments in a bind to accomplish simple day to day tasks. My current position has been changed and I am now doing my old job, as well as another job. This is becoming common and of course, pay does not adjust to compensate for the added responsibilities or stress."

"If you apply at Sally do not work here unless you want to emotionally abused on a regular bases. Rather then encouraging his team members to do better, our Manager talks down to them and makes anything you do not good enough. And when you use the open door policy to go to the director or HR you are treated like it is all you and nothing is done to make him a better manager who treats employees with respect. He will give you no respect. The open door policy is only to cover the company's backside."
