In addition to meeting with staff members and advertising executives, they also provide written reports and oral reports to district and national managers and they meet with clients on a regular basis. During an average day at work, they may create and give a business presentation, assist customers with finance options and paperwork, and provide sales training to lower-level employees.


Skillset: Most sales account managers have a strong background in retail, business or customer service. They must be able to establish an easy and reliable rapport with clients. They are also adept at overcoming customer objections and providing customers with exceptional follow-up customer service to ensure that the business relationship is maintained over a long period of time.


Education: Many sales account managers have degrees in consumer sciences, business management, and advertising. Whether a bachelors or masters degree is required is typically based on what type of industry the person is entering into and how large the company is.


Career Path: A solid foundation for a sales account manager career is based on good finance and retail abilities, as well as excellent customer service skills.
