"I have been working at Ricoh Electronics for the past 7 years. It is a really fast-growing company and I learned a lot about manufacturing and Kaizen (Improvement) activity throughout my career at this company. "I started work there in 1997 and in the beginning is was great but then they got too cheap. Office supplies were very hard to get. I even saw some coworkers having to share a single box of paperclips because they just weren't purchased. The building I was in was quite dirty and the bathroom smelled. The carpet was so filthy I just threw away anything that accidentally fell and touched the carpet. The coffee and water was free. There was a kitchen but we weren't allowed to use it. Only vending machines."

"I was given broad latitude to do many innovations in reducing downtime, increasing production efficiency and lowering energy cost."

"Tell the interviewer that you are hands on type person and that you are not afraid to get your hands dirty when it is required."

What don't you like about working at Ricoh?

"The company could at times be top heavy with managers that did not have a through knowledge of the work."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Move personnel into management only after they have proven themselves to be capable."

"They provided a great atmosphere for team building experiences. Coworkers were always watching out for each other to ensure the highest quality customer service and work productivity was delivered. Collaborating with vendors was also an enjoyable experience as they were always courteous and friendly amidst time-sensitive and stressful demands to process orders or resolve conflicts."

"Productivity and being a team player are vital components to opening up opportunities for growth in the company."

What don't you like about working at Ricoh?

"The corporate office (located in New Jersey) did not have enough contact or collaboration with west coast branches such as ours in Tustin, CA. As a result, certain structural and departmental processing issues were not resolved in a timely manner. Often a Quality Assurance (QA) period with a mix of interdepartmental employees would require 6 months of brainstorming and testing. Meanwhile the corporate office decision to implement a solution required another 6 months once the QA project was complete."

"Timely resolutions are essential to keeping employees happy with company progress, not just vendors and end-users."
