Radford University is a public university located in Radford, Virginia. The university began in 1910 and was originally called State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Radford. At the time, its main mission was to train women who graduated from high school to become teachers. The institution was open only to women until 1972, where the state began to desegregate schools that were gender specific. Radford began offering graduate degrees in 1979.
