Platinum Supplemental Insurance Employee

"At first look Platinum Supplemental Insurance appears to be a great opportunity. As the old saying goes though, not everything which shines is gold or in this case platinum. Platinum is NOT an insurance company but an Iowa based insurance agency which operates across multiple states. They simply provide the marketing structure for numerous companies like your local agency. While this works in a community because the agency provides a local presence to make the consumer feel comfortable even if the insurance provided is not a household name. Platinum does not have an office in any of the other states it operates. While it has been in business for about 20 years, few people recognize them or the companies they represent. The products they offer can be highly competitive. In some cases you may be able to provide someone with bigger benefits for the same or less premium. Even when this is the case, this does not always overcome the lack of name recognition when competing against an actual insurance company, especially an industry giant like AFLAC or Combined Insurance. If this were the only disadvantage then it might not be so bad. Unfortunately it is not. As the policy you will be offering is not from Platinum they will not invest in advertising or provide the marketing support of an actual company. Instead you are left on your own to compete with the millions and millions an actual company invests in marketing. So instead of working out of an office or agency, you instead work in rural markets to canvass door-to-door like a vacuum cleaner salesman or some Bible thumper. You try to find someone willing to let a perfect stranger from a virtually unknown company into their home. Not easy but not as hard as it may seem. If it didn't work, then people wouldn't still be knocking on our doors."
