"Work/ job is fine. No problems IF your manager is good, knows how to treat and handle staff and PROPERLY resolve issues (without their ego getting in the way). While Pier 1 training videos/employee handbooks look really good, a REAL EXPERIENCE will be: If you're working in the I.E. in California, the District Manager is cold and does not greet or introduce herself to staff on duty. If she doesn't like a manager - watch out! Managers are on-edge and pass their ill mood onto staff. Condescending remarks are common."

"It is a visually beautiful place and smells divine. Most of the people I work with are wonderful, friendly, and fun."

"Like with any interview smile and talk as naturally as you can. Relate how well you can communicate with customers and talk up your powers of pursation. The goals of signing up customers for credit cards are stressed as majorly important. Dress business casual! Do not bring your friend, mother, or boyfriend with you to fill out the aplication! It is unprofessional and your application will not be seriously considered!"
What don't you like about working at Pier 1 Imports?
"There is too much emphasis on monitary gains. That is to be expected, but there is no regard for the customers. Everyone is a faceless walking money bank and it is my job to squeeze out as much as I can:("

"Expensive hand crafted items should not fall apart easily! Focus needs to be placed on the actual quality of the products."

"There is nothing beneficial from working at Pier 1, besides learning about how slave labor works."

"Are you fine with earning barely enough to cover your rent and nothing else"

"The company does not care for their employees as much as they gloat and go on about, personally I feel like if I have to be a sleazy car salesman just meet the ridiculous quotas they set for us. I feel like I can hear their whips cracking the background, whenever I go to work."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Personally I would ask for a non-mandatory email or letter sent directly to myself asking how Pier 1 could better serve the sales associates and all the other entry level jobs. Along with giving generous incentives and salary raises to better motivate the people that are actually making the profit for the company."
