"management was a bit of a puzzle for me -- there seemed to be a fraternity of people supervising others that lacked knowledge of the skill set required to perform the jobs. they really didn't have any basis for measuring someone's work other than whether or not they liked them."

"promotions shouldn't be decided as if it were a popularity contest."
