"My second week there, one of the full-timers said some uncomfortable things to me and was pretty rude directly to me, he made it, so I couldn't work with him anymore so I had to work the register if I wanted money. It was very inappropriate, and I was told that that is just the way the guy rolls. After six months of working the register, I decided to change jobs so I quit. Because I did not ask to be paid out for my vacation time before I resigned, they told me their policy is to keep the PTO. I feel like I earned my vacation time, and I feel like it is inappropriate for them to keep the money, but that is their policy and it does not violate Virginia law. As a middle-aged white man, I could have not felt more unwelcome, and like I did not belong there. Petsmart has a focus on inclusivity, but they mean that they want to include people other than me I guess. I found the work environment was very bad, the managers could have cared less about most things, and while some of the employees were a real treat to work with, others seem to have personal problems that they took out on me, and it was a take it or leave it situation, and when I left, I feel like the company stole from me."

"The turnover at this store is ridiculous. The store associates are unhelpful, do not work, and are always standing around in a circle. I would never find my coworkers, and when I did - they were always huddled in a corner of the store. My coworkers are always standing around in a circle when other store employees are asking for help over the walkie-talkie. Store in never swept. Store associates do not wash their hands after cleaning the OOPS Stations. Uncleanly. Bad management. We are supposed to get two fifteen minute breaks and a half hour. I would only be allowed to go on my half hour break and one fifteen minute break if I was lucky. And if you need a bathroom break? Forget about it."

"This was a fun place to work for when I started almost 4 years ago. I started at 1 location which was great but when I transferred to the other location things went down hill. The grooming salon people were great and some of the people in core too. There is a lot of favoritism that goes on. The management is ok but the upper management are bad. If you have a problem don't count on them for help. They do not return your calls and don't take their word for anything."

"I have been working for petsmart for 9 months today. The experience has been less than welcoming. Don't expect help with associate issues. Training is atrocious because they are all packed on an IPAD instead of expert hands on. It's clicky and toxic. My job is in jeopardy due to a dispute with upper management. Over worked and over stressed. If you don't fit in expect to be looking for a new job. They use good workers and praise the lazy ones as long as you are part of their group. I've worked many customer service jobs and this one has to be the worst experience I've had. Zero accountability numerous call outs with no recourse expect that the people who do show up get screwed. Management is manipulative and sneaky. Don't speak up or stand out because you'll be exed out and forced to seek other employment due to the uncomfortable atmosphere. If they can't fire you they will find a way to make you not want to be there. Since I started working there it's been one issue after another because I come from a working background while this place seems to enjoy the coziness of not being pushed to work. Their store ratings is not because of management but the lower level employees who have to soften the experience and apologize for their experience. I'd tell anyone to think twice before applying because now that I know how it works there I am realizing I do not fit in or belong and regret leaving a job I was with for 4 and half years to come to this kindergarten playground."

"I was fortunate to become employed by PetSmart in a wonderful role that I had successfully completed in other companies in the past. The culture was fantastic; relaxed yet professional as individuals held themselves with great respect. Nice corporate campus and many amenities and events. However, my specific situation with my direct manager, we initially were very well balanced and worked well together. Once the larger team fell behind schedule, our relationship became poor and he made it clear to me that we would never see eye-to-eye. My immediate organization developed into a clique and you were either loved or hated. I was scape-goated with poor justification and multiple factors out of my control. Once released, I found out that the organization was re-organized and barely kept their heads above water. I have sorrow for anyone who is wrongly punished for other teams short-comings."

"I've worked for Petsmart since 2001 and It was a good organization to work for. The culture was tailored around associates by making feel a sense of belonging. The company expectations were clear and it was the associate's responsibility to make sure they lived by those expectations and meet standards. PetSmart was a good company to work for but growth opportunities were not inclusive to all based on qualifications that's why I'm looking for a company that has to cherish their associates' growth and development seriously and by reading Jobot company's reviews, I believe I will fit in good and make an immediate impact."

"I've worked for Petsmart for 7 years. The company had gone through a LOT of changes over the last 5 years. Things are getting better, but there are still some parts of the company that are still following the old leadership ways. The culture is starting to make a turnaround but it is not felt in all areas."

"I worked for Petsmart for a little over 3 years. Managers looked out for their employees and treated everyone fairly, confronting problems with ease and good communication. Non-managerial sections of the store are divided between Stockers, Cashiers and Pet Care Associates. All three departments are trained to put customers service at the forefront. While I am unable to speak for other stores as some work differently depending on district and overall area, the one I was employed at made sure animal welfare was also held to standards, giving customers the peace of mind that potential pets were cared for attentively and correctly."
