Purchasing Manager

What do you like about working at PepsiCo?

"I worked at the Jackson, MS plant before it was shut down. The investment in training employees was what I liked most."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It is a good place for a young, single person to gain valuable experience to be used in your pursuit of your ideal job with another company. Frito-Lay was well known for training employees for the rest of the industrial world."

What don't you like about working at PepsiCo?

"What I did not like about working for Frito-Lay was the high pressure and demand for my personal time. Life/Work balance is greatly lacking."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Continue to concentrate on quality. Stop making Frito-Lay plants compete with each other for business and work. Respect your employees' personal time and stop demanding so many work hours beyond 45 to 50 hours per week. Stop running off good talent. Stop training managers for the rest of the industrial world. Frito-Lay never seemed interested in retaining talent and seemed to encourage well trained Frito-Lay experienced people to take their newly acquired experience to competitors and elsewhere. Constantly training new managers who would inevitably make the same mistakes as their predecessors cost the company large sums of money in terms of training dollars, scrap, and re-work."
