I was hired as a Field Service Technician with hopes of possibly learning other phases of the company, but those opportunities were never presented."

"The corporate culture and training were great. A couple of the reps were very helpful."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be very, very careful. Make sure you get more than a 10 minute interview before accepting the job and interview them extensively! Ask about the turnover rate on new sales people and branch managers. Huge issue. Make sure you get some existing business (in writing) or you will struggle greatly. Not fun!!"

What don't you like about working at Patterson Dental Supply Co?

"Branches operate independently without much oversight from corporate so the culture is very different. They do not keep their promises and support from branch manger and seasoned reps is almost nonexistent. Would not recommend working for this company unless you bring the business with you. They claim to care about the offices they service; I was gone for 6 weeks and still received calls from doctors that did not know I was not their rep.."

"Ensure corporate culture and philosophy is in place at ALL branch locations."

"The stock plan is nice. The insurance used to be awesome but is getting awful expensive. Although I believe that's true throughout the US. The type of work can be enjoyable and challenging."

"Be honest, get a high starting wage or you will never get much more."

What don't you like about working at Patterson Dental Supply Co?

"The pay is better at the competitors. Although I'm not sure the grass is greener on the other side. Get in at a good pay rate as I was one of the tech's that had the highest incomes brought in for my branch and never received more than 3.25% pay raise."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"STOP LYING. If an employee asks for a promotion or title change at least give them the courtesy to look into it and not change the subject. Send more than one guy (who goes all the time) for training regularly."

"The money was great, the doctors I designed for great, the tools great, should have stayed in California and kept my job."

"Some of the managers had no experience in the dental field and made it hard to work for."
