1.6The true colors of this company surfaced during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The overpaid elites worked safe and sound from home while they made the underpaid workers come in everyday in close quarters putting everyone at risk. This is not an "essential" company. Everything made here is a first world luxury item. While the employees kept the company afloat without any paid leave or bonuses for working regardless of the risks, they slap everyone in the face with a 0%-2% raise which essentially is $0 amid the rising costs of living and rising health insurance not to mention everyone is already suffering financially from the broken economy from COVID-19. This garbage raise was after a successful 2019 year hitting milestones and achieving goals which management told everyone they could not have achieved without us. Management puts so much effort into disengaging from their employees. Career advancement, earnings potential, individual skills assessment and progression within the company is a hush hush topic and discouraged. Management doesn't care who you are or where you came from they just want a biological body to get the job done and accept substandard pay and benefits that are too expensive to use. After the 5.7 magnitude earthquake they had everyone back to work the next day in a flooded water damaged building now full of new cracks, shifted support columns and debris everywhere completely disregarding everyone's safety. Common talk among employees in all departments is disapproval of management, anger about pay and benefits, and sharing info on better companies to work for. Individual contributions, extra effort, extra hours, schooling accomplishments and good attitude go intentionally ignored and unnoticed by management. Ottobock operates on an intentional high turnover rate and the overall principle practiced by management to their employees is not what they can do to be the best company to work for but rather what can Ottobock get away with.
3.5With almost 10 years at the company, I have a lot of good things to say about the core values of the company. The people are great. I chose to leave because there was not enough advancement and new ways to be challenged. In hindsight, I stayed too long.
2If you are just starting out in the "real" world this would be a great place to work. For those that are older and have an education you may want to think twice about looking to work here. The only reason is due to the hourly wage being so low and the company not negotiating. There are 2 tests you have to take on the computer before you would even get an interview.
