"Office Depot Max is a good company if you are working on a degree. There is a lot of flexibility with the scheduling. The draw back is that as a tech we don't get the sufficient space and time to actually do what we prefer to do. It is more sales focused. so if you are looking to have flexibility while going to school this is not a bad place to work at. The pay is less desirable but it allows you more time for school as I said before. They can have set schedules for your school. This is an ideal place if you are just starting out in technology, but don't expect to jump in to the networking aspect unless you are selling cable, Wireless routers, and Switches. other than that its not a hard job. Remember, Its Retail."

"I've worked with Office Depot since 2006. The company has gone through many changes since then. The culture used to be about cooperation and hard work, however with the changes in pay structures they seem to be having more trouble hiring and keeping quality associates. On the management side, more and more choices are made at corporate. Managers are not given the freedom or creative license to be successful in their unique market."

"This company recently merged with Office Max and their consolidation and reorganization process was very cold and impersonal to those loyal associates who have worked there for 10 plus years."

"After working for OD for over 12 years, I have watched it grow from a big box store to more of specialized and service oriented company. Overall, I think the company is quite good to the employees. Meeting metrics is a chore and has become the overlying basis that everything else is measured. It has made for a sometimes high pressure work environment. This is retail. Weekends, holidays, birthdays, family gatherings all take a back seat. As long as you realize that going into it..."

"Office Depot was not employee friendly! It was only profitable or stable for top positions in corporate headquarters."

"I was a longstanding employee of Office Depot and the opportunities to advance dried up a few years ago. They have eliminated the majority of their benefits to stay competitive in the market place. I am hoping that the merger with Office Max goes through so they can get some new upper level leadership (although I do feel that the current CEO is amazing and doing an awesome job fixing previous mistakes, it has not trickled down to the rest of the leadership teams)."

"This company has been extremely good to me for the most of my almost 6 years with them. It is very difficult time for managers at OD now since there is a very high level of uncertainty. With the merger nobody knows what will happen next and everyone feels threatened."
