"I have worked for Nucor for 10 years and it is a fantastic place to work. They really emphasize and practice safety. The compensation is ridiculously good, great culture, North America's largest recycler, profit sharing...too many good things to list. With steel mills scattered across the US, there's probably one in a field near you!"
"Good Place to Work and well-compensated but upper management treats lower level like servants."
"Tight-knit team, great people to work for and with"
"Skeleton crew style work. You perform multiple skill sets to contribute to overall success."
"It is a good large company to work for"
"This is an excellent place to grow your technical experience while working with teammates who treat you like family."
"I worked for Nucor as a Field Engineer and was primarily responsible for managing and supervising operations."
"Very family orientated. However to move up or advance you must be willing to move."
"Nucor Steel may seem like it's a great place to work and it can be, but this varies greatly by location. The salaries you see and hear about are only because people are working 60 plus hours a week. It's unfortunate because the way the production pay system works actually screws you out of a substantial amount of pay working all that overtime. If you worked at Nucor and were paid $34 an hour like they say the average is, you would go from making 70k a year with the overtime to making closer or more than a 100k with overtime. It's all BS. The benefits are terrible, that's why it always amazes me when people say great benefits. I guess there are no other employers in their areas. The benefits are very outdated. It's actually kinda sad there are people who think Nucor has good benefits. Expect to be owned by Nucor. Expect to be available 24/7 whether you are on vacation, day off, new baby, etc. Nucor needs to be more important to you than your family and outside life. If it's not, expect to be pushed out by management. And this is a big one There is no such clause as a no layoff clause, period! It's not in any handbook or writing anywhere so I do not understand why people say it in reviews. They just have never laid anyone off because they push them out. Take this review as a serious review. I was a good employee and liked, but the company was a poorly run, unethical company."
"The production line pays really well, but those guys earn every bit of it. Any other job (besides management), not so much."
