"Great company for entry to mid-level. Once you get to Director level, too many layers and too much politics. The environment shifts at the top,."

"I've worked for NPD for about 2 years. It has a very good market analytics applications. Application development teams are pretty small in size and unavailability of senior staff to provide more inputs to the team is a big problem."

"From my experience and the division I was representing, I found the company to be too driven by profits and not enough focus on the customer. The business strategy that our division President put in place was unrealistic and not a loud enough voice to help new technology (like software) be developed for meeting clients' needs. In addition, clients had a difficult time with understanding the value our services offered as our methodology was a bit archaic."

What don't you like about working at The NPD Group?

"Office building was ancient, with many excessively hot and cold spots. Multiple raw sewage leaks and then cleaning treatments with harsh chemicals floating around in the air. Some very phony, ego-driven management, who didn't know what they were talking about in some areas. Politicians who didn't like being questioned. Stood on their titles in place of knowledge or competence."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Admit when you don't know something. Lose your big egos and phony demeanors."

"My boss is sometimes scattered and I have to track them down for direction/advice about important issues. The software is archaic. Everyone expects to be a winner all the time. This stifles competition."
