What do you like about working at Northwestern Mutual?
"Northwestern Mutual pays their employees based on performance. I am extremely driven and motivated so getting paid based on performance was extremely satisfying."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Give the internship 100%. It will push the boundaries of your comfort zone and give you experience unmatched by any other internship. There is a reason that Northwestern Mutual is considered a Top Ten Internship. The internship develops leaders and encourages self-motivation, determination, and entrepreneurship."
What don't you like about working at Northwestern Mutual?
"Northwestern Mutual is a great company however, my time as an intern made me realize that working in the insurance industry was not for me. Despite my lack of desire, I gave the internship 100% and at one point ranked as high as 37 out of over 3000 interns nationwide."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Create more competition within the internship. My drive came from challenging other interns to outperform me. Competition is what fueled my success and I suspect that it would do the same for other interns."
"I've worked with Northwestern Mutual for almost two years now. My co-workers are some of the most genuine people I have ever met and I am so glad that I was able to build strong relationships with most of them. On a professional level, I love working with my clients and helping them achieve their personal and financial goals. However, for me, working under a salary based job can be very fluctuating; some months are great and some months I am under a great deal of stress. Northwestern is the best at what they do in my opinion and I wouldn't refer anyone to a different firm or agency."
"I have worked for Northwestern Mutual for more than couple of years and I got a chance to learn many advanced skills here. It's a great place to work and learn new skills."
"If you are wanting to get into the sales world and want incredible guidance on how to do it then this is the job for you!"
"This company is a very good company to work for. There was an amazing culture and people. I recommend Northwestern Mutual for anyone considering it."
"I've worked at Northwestern Mutual for a year now and have been employed in two different positions. They give you everything you need to succeed at your position and that is hard to come across."
"Great company to work for."
"The ongoing training and support is the best I have seen. Everyone I interacted with was kind and very professional. Unfortunately, COVID-19 had slowed business down and in addition, many financial advisors and their teams chose to work remotely. With these factors my position as Office Coordinator was unfortunately no longer needed and was ultimately eliminated."
"Northwestern Mutual is a great place to start a career in the financial service industry. They have great training as well as great leadership to teach you the skills to be successful in the career. If you are will to put in the work you will be able to be successful."
"That is a good company to work for, but be prepared for your own expenses for the first 6 months you are working there."
"First things first, this is a sales position. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand the nature of the business. That being said, this position is one that allows the financial rep to positively impact the clients for years to come. The training is top notch and the company does everything they can to help a financial rep succeed. However, there are some people who just are not suited for this type of role. I was one of them."
"I've been at Northwestern Mutual for nearly two years. It truly is a solid company that focuses on holistic financial planning. With a solid foundation in life insurance, they've now branched out to focus on helping clients plan for tomorrow while living for today."
"This is a great company. I enjoyed the people and the atmosphere. The job just wasn't for me."
