"Future outlook for the company is dire with the executive mgt not cleaning house as they should be."

"Mgt is somewhat non-standard in that an employee can report to multiple people who all demand a certain level of attention."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Fire myself and hire someone that understands the how to make money in the business."

"The expertise is in the company somewhere and there are tons of innovative efforts in play. There are strong expertise and knowledge base."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Expect to find plenty of overlap on your areas of responsibility and find ways to collaborate effectively. Stay focused and continue to move the needle (execution)."

What don't you like about working at Nokia?

"Often people and projects are very disconnected because the company is so large and globally located. Additionally there is some mildly unneccessary bureaucracy when compared to other companies I have worked for."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Provide for greater and earlier involvement in strategy decsion making as well as a need to focus on building a stronger new culture."

What do you like about working at Nokia?

"I like the industry, consumer products, software, flat management, innovation, and access to leaders."

"You need to like challenges (culture, people, tasks), and learn how to navigate politics."

What don't you like about working at Nokia?

"There was not enough transparency from middle management. The environment had a fear of failing culture that included risk-averse managers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Nothing different at the top. I would fire half of mid-management."

What do you like about working at Nokia?

"So many teams that are working on future opportunities and so much to learn."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Coming in low... you will have to work your way to the top slowly... but coming in high will give you a better chance, but you will need to shine quickly and learn Nordic/Euro politicking quickly (not a bad thing). Not sure that good talent in mid level and lower senior ranks is recognized easily. Will need to keep an eye out for great opportunities to shine or create one when the time is right."

What don't you like about working at Nokia?

"Lots of uncertainty and a fair amount of inefficiency. I would say that I have less control over my destiny... and would much prefer to have the ability to more directly steer the future of our successes and failures. We have become a bit too large and the CEO is on the right path in downsizing/right sizing but there is still some need to trim, but trimming correctly and keeping real talent that is focused on a clear future opportunity that is core to Nokia's mission."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Reduce the number of teams doing far out research and focus on near future and how to monetize these opportunities being invested in. Additionally, I would invest more heavily in the concept of collecting and aggregating context and other data for an aggregated use for Nokia users. (all for one and one for all = future of consumer wants)."

"Colleagues and the team (most of them hired by me and together for almost 10 years)."

"Use it only as a stepping stone for another job."

"No clear guidance, no accountability, much fragmented organization, only short-term focus."

"Change the organisational setup and go for a more country/local setup."

"Great company and people to work with. Just read the job spec carefully and prepare accordingly."

"Process driven and bureaucracy sometimes hinders the quick decision making."

"Stability (process driven) and innovation do not fit well together."

What do you like about working at Nokia?

"Nokia Siemens Networks was a great company when it had a broad vision, unfortunately, with the decline of the parent company's focus, the company is also in significant decline. Expect it to be taken over or merged and disappear within 18 months."

"As much as I hate denigrating my former employers, I would probably honestly recommend that they look for another company with better growth prospects."

What don't you like about working at Nokia?

"The increasing reliance on low cost and highly inefficient services infrastructure and grossly inefficient outsourcing to China and India."

"That is no longer my responsibility as I accepted voluntary redundancy and have left."

"The position and the company could offer international and multicultural exposure."

"It depends on the seniority level but in general I suggest to show technical knowledge and international view."

"I found lack of communication between Senior and Young Manager with the result of reduced possibility of career improvement."

"There should be additional involvement of the middle management, I suggest additional care about the business and the staff."

"They should be direct, honest, and always willing to take a chance and manage risk."

"I dislike the current market situation that is not directly relevant to the work that I perform. It has a negative outcome to the current organization that I belong to, and we may be reducing personnel."

"They should continue to support the strategy outlined by our CEO and allow time to show the results of implementing the strategy."

"I like the young engaged team with good skills and spirit necessary to do the job."

"Nokia closed down the Ulm site in Germany with only announcing it 15 minutes before it went to the press."

"I would think more of consequences I make, especially when it comes to people."

"Generally the company has great colleagues and flexibility. I learned a lot from my experience here."

"There is too much bureaucracy. Getting something approved takes too much time."

"I suggest more development actions, rather than talk. This would make a company more competitive."

"This is a worldwide organization, more than 160 offices in the world, with open culture and biggest telecom infrastructure provider."

"I cannot say anything that I don't like over here, better to say that I enjoyed a lot."

"Management is doing good. I have seen day to day growth."

"This is what I DID like: benefits, my excellent colleagues, the nature of the work when we were left to do it."

"Be knowledgeable in the technology. Be yourself; be honest but do not undersell yourself."

"The overall direction (resulted in site closure), the management (too distributed) and the occasional political nature."

"This is an excellent place to work, and flexibility to their employees is the base of this company."

"Provide more empowerment to employees in order to execute and innovate constantly."

"I like a company that I could grow together with. The company culture focus on both winnings - the success of business both for itself and its customers, and winning of people, so its employees could happily work for it."

"I don't like too much paper work in company daily procedures. I understand the importance of paper work but we should have flexibility in some real cases."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep communication with employees. If we can understand their need inside we would be able to keep them, which possibly means keep our best business running smoothly and bring in profit."
