Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be prepared and be patient. There are hoops to jump through -- or so I hear. I was grandfathered in because Nielsen bought the company that I had been working for."
What don't you like about working at Nielsen?
"The global aspect of what I do. I am expected to take calls at 10 pm and 5 am (and on weekends) in order to meet the needs of clients in Australia, China, Thailand, Russia, etc. That gets to be too much sometimes."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"The company is global. I don't think I could say that I'd do anything differently because I only see a tiny portion of what's going on."
"Nielsen is a great company, but I'm really looking for eventual prospering work."
"I worked at Arbitron/Nielsen Audio for 10+ years. Arbitron had very good benefits and competitive pay. However, it changed tremendously after the Nielsen acquisition. Our department was retained long enough for Nielsen to retrain new employees at less than half our compensation. Nielsen Audio should not be confused with the quality of work Arbitron provided. Nielsen Audio methodology appears to be substandard to Arbitron's."
"Claritas used to be a good company to work for, but ever since Nielsen took over and hired Tata Consulting to handle the IT, the company has gone down hill."
"Nice company to work, need more management and the leads have to know more about technical requirements to know the specific dates to deliver, and the technical leads need to know how to resolve functional problems and more management."

"Nielsen MR: not for everyone!"
"Nielsen is a large company, which a big-company culture and all the challenges that go with it. While their primary focus is data, they are not a software company, so their relationships with their offshore vendors is critical to the success of their software systems."
"No job security, stressful culture, the hours are bordeline slavery"

"Lack of job security. You WILL lose your job eventually. Lack of work/life balance. Management will tell you there are 7 business days in a week. Unrealstic deadlines, requiring 7-day work weeks. Payraises had ceased completely prior to my leaving the company."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Give a rip about your employees. They are not emotionless robots that you can work to death until you can find a way to eliminate them from your payroll. They are human beings."
"As a first corporate job out of college, it can be a great experience. As an experienced technician, the base pay is very low and the bar for incentive bonuses is set very high (it is not just you but your whole market determines if you see the $)."
