Submit a Review"The National Sales Manager position provides challenges and opportunities above and beyond the typical sales arena. The position allows me to mold and grow the sales network and have a direct result in the fruits of those labors. However, as with most upper level sales positions, there is a great deal of travel that often takes away from personal activities."

"Listen to your co-workers and before making decisions have an idea of what they are talking about"

"I worked as an Account Manager in a remote office, but still had plenty of contact with team members in different parts of the country, so that I still felt like part of the larger team."

"The hiring process can take months! Be patient. Be positive during your interview."

"Their travel policy was a little more strict than most. Also you had to obtain VP approval before you could take a client to dinner so that made for some awkward moments."

"I would allow more free flow of ideas. There were a lot of people that were afraid to speak their mind for fear of being reprimanded."

"The was a small company. The owner had unrealistic growth expectations relative to how fast the company could expand nationally"

"Have realistic expectations about the industry and economy. Listen to your potential customers."

"This is a very technical company, if you don't have the aptitude nor the background that will prove useful in that type of environment then don't even apply."

"No upward mobility, zero incentives, do more with less and unreasonable expectations."

"Board needs to better understand the dynamics of the construction industry, difficult to do when it's comprised of venture capitalists."

"The higher up the ladder I went, the more resistance I felt. Very insecure at the top."

"This is a tough question. This is a company that has very few executives. Probably the biggest thing would be is the not just give someone a title with responsibility, but give them authority as well."

"I was free to create business networking opportunities and growth as needed. I worked out of my home office and traveled around the country to meet with my team and make the sales."

"Always keep copies of reports and emails stored in a safe place. That way there is support to all you do and say."

"There is no upward mobility and I was being micromanaged from afar."

"Allow the people in the field to make decisions based on their personal experiences and stop second guessing them. Read the reports that are required to be submitted every week before the meetings."
