Moffatt & Nichol Employee

"The company has been around for 75 years but there's still a very high turnover rate. High turnover simply means that there's something wrong with the department/company, more so with the management style. People easily lose their enthusiasm after a few months and you can clearly see that they don't stay happy. There's no "genuine" concern for the people because they put so much pressure on them. Management thinks they're doing a great job but statistics clearly show that they are not. It's high time they evaluate their own performance and how they can effect change to make people stay. The CEO is a very nice guy but is not engaged enough to know the true sentiments of the people."

Moffatt & Nichol Employee

"I've worked with Moffatt & Nichol Engineers for a time between a few months to a year. As part of a smaller team with the company, there is a sustainable amount of work that would keep us busy. A huge problem is that work is not often delegated well, due to older long term employees who value getting the jobs done faster over mentorship of younger engineers. This is a huge problem as the company does not foster a healthy learning environment for young engineers, as many of the younger engineers are left by their managers to train themselves. There are hardly any standards, there is no structure, files and folders are amazingly disorganized, deadlines are frequently pushed back (all the way back), and young engineers struggle to grow due to the lack of opportunities presented from senior personnel. The company's technology is outdated and not up to industry standard, and there is little effort being put into improving this. Newer rules established by the current CEO (original CEO's son) greatly impact work flow, no working from home ever for level P2 and below. Moving backwards rather than forwards in a lucrative society where companies seek to improve their benefits and work-life flexibility of their employees. Weak communication with managers as well as other senior personnel, near impossible to learn from them as they're always facing their computer screens working on high level stuff, in meetings, or on the job site. No formal training infrastructure and no tutorials of any sort to dip your feet into starting as a new engineer here. There are a lot of issues that need to be resolved and things to improve by the company, which they are aware of, but being an older company there is no active effort or motivation whatsoever to achieve these things."
