What do you like about working at Miami-Dade County?

"My coworkers are good people. We have the tools we need to do our job."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Get your training and a little bit of experience, then move on. Don't spend more than 5 years there unless you become one of the favored few. The one thing Miami-Dade county is good for is you get a lot of experience fast because you deal with so many people from so many different cultures."

What don't you like about working at Miami-Dade County?

"Budget cuts resulting in mandatory pre-tax insurance contributions that are effectively large (about 10%) pay cuts. Managers promoted from the same level we work at suddenly think we don't know how to do our jobs, resulting in micromanagement. Not many mid career people between senior people retiring soon and newbies. A huge knowledge drain is coming. Budget cuts also mean no money to hire new people so as people leave, their work gets piled on the people left behind."
