"I have worked at Metrolink for eight years. As a public agency, it tends to be very political and micromanaged by the agency board of directors. The executive leadership is very political and not very supportive of the staff. Unless you are the favorite of a manager you stand no chance of advancement."

The volume of work, special projects requiring my attention, combined with the backlog I inherited and the Oracle system that had been over-customized and had not been updated in years, all came together to create a perfect storm of a job that was untenable. 18 hour days, 7 days a week, no time for a family or personal life and no relief in sight. I burnt out in 11 months. I hope never to encounter such an unhappy situation ever again."

"The prestige of the company itself, made me so proud."

"Just be prepared before the contract hours gets exhausted, as there is no exemption whether you perform excellently or not."

What don't you like about working at Metrolink?

"The Contractual basis (that I am aware from the beginning) that can't be renewed after 6 months, thereafter."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I just wish that since our performance is above their expectation, to at least made a way of extending our contract or much better, consider hiring us permanently."

"Good benefits and it definitely presented a wide variety of projects with challenges and it was a continues learning opportunity."

"Get to know your manager! Only take the job if you are desperate"

"There was no team effort and there was a lot of backstabbing even."

"They should encourage team and collaborative efforts and appreciate hard working employee."

"Outstanding benefits and one of the few employers left that I know of that offers a true pension program that is defined benefit, not defined contribution."

"Ask about morale, systems that support the department and when the salary freeze will be lifted."

"Poor systems, lack up support from executive level for investing in upgrades.`"

"Spend the money necessary for good systems and sufficient headcount to get the job done."

"The reimbursement for trasportation expense only limited to public transportation. Downtown LA is pricey for monthly parking. I have to drive my personal vehicle because public transportation doesn't reach my daughter school."
