"The fast pace of the job. The opportunity to learn more about inpatient psych treatment, diagnostics and the ability to learn how to work with patients who have severe mental illness."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are looking for a position where you have very little input regarding patient care and are basically hired to make sure clients get discharged before insurance runs out, which can be a challenge at times, this job is for you."

What don't you like about working at Methodist Hospital?

"The position of social worker was minimized to discharge planner and there was an obvious medical model which placed the sw in a limited role. In addition the treatment was based on medication stablization with very little regard for other modalities."

"Overworked during each shift. Stress is extremely high in specialty areas working on the floor."

"Understand the actual workload and make accommodations to improve stress levels and learning capacity. Be our advocate."

"Administrations are repeating the same mistakes despite the changes in the people at the top. The union slows progress."

"Listen to the employees. Make things so that union employees don't see the need for the union. Move things along faster when managers need to replace terminatged employees; they got rid of the old employee because they weren't performing."

"It's a great organization for people who are dedicated and willing to work hard."

"I had a bad experience with my manager that upper management was aware of. I was the major force of leadership in the department because my manager was unreliable. I felt that behavior was overlooked so long as I was there to pick up the slack. My professional decision to leave was based on the lack of professionalism and integrity I experienced from someone I wanted to respect to support."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I suggest that upper management take a more active role in the management of the individual departments. Support and the develop the hard working, committed employees, and move out the folks who are not doing what they're being paid to do."
