What do you like about working at Mervyns?

"The fact they had great pricing, quality items, knowledgeable staff, employee appreciation and royalty along with be known as a neighborhood store. Until about 6yrs ago"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Yes, its going to be hard to interview with this company when they are out of BUSINESS!!!!!Also remember they started ONLY management with degrees so it you had worked your way through the ranks for 20-25yrs it did matter. Best part the degree could be in anything: Dramatic Arts, Agriculture and so forth. Wonder if they realized what they did to their company and loyal employee's.........so were lifers 25-40yrs with the company when it went under........hhhuuuuummmmm"

What don't you like about working at Mervyns?

"The office Politics and Lazy management when store hours were cut to a minimum. The general unknowledgeable, sarcastic, and unprofessional individual managers coming out of college that had know understanding of how to run a sales floor much less a well trained crew and treat them with dignity or respects...........and I was once one of their manager. Department wise and assistant manager through out various stores in the valley...."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Try adhering to the guideline and criteria of the company on a regular basis and not just when they feel like it.Remember without your loyal employee's working the floor you wouldn't of had a job in the first place.Meaning treat them with respect,professionalism, and understanding.As a very old saying goes you get more with honey than you do with vinegar...Besides they ARE CLOSED NOW"
