"Been working as a systems monitor for over a year now. I can say successfully that I wouldn't recommend it as a stable source of income. For high school and college students, it's an ok learning experience in preliminary ITS troubleshooting and introduction into ticket systems. Ultimately the job will take more from you than you will from it."

"Expect to handle a lot of customers and always stay positive. If you intend to stay there a long time, constantly try to move around in the company and try different positions."

"My job rarely challenged me and I felt overqualified and didn't see myself staying there after college."

"Management did pretty well. Sometimes the shift managers were not on the same page though, and should have had more communication."

"Everybody is friendly, I have a lot freedom to do my work the way I want without micromanagement, and the discount is great (10% on all general merchandise, no restriction, sale/clearance/regular price all 10% off.)"

"You'll be meeting with your hourly Team Leader and the Lines Manager for the area of the store you'll be working in.Don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure you go in as a match for the position you applied."

"Management were all good copsNobody wanted to be a bad manger so the disciplinary system completely fell apart."

"Show a little backbone and call out employees when they make a mistake, when you sit on your hands you give them power.There's nothing wrong with being nice but I keep leaving the Lines Manager's office with diabetes."

"Understand that the purpose of Meijer is to sell groceries and other items. Your IT career takes place within this environment."

"1099 has no benefits (OST) and you do not have a sense of belonging."

"Meijer management is fine. OST is fine too and they have a great building, but being a 1099 means not belonging."

"It's a great environment and I like the policies that ensure people are not allowed to be intimidated or preyed on by other employees or managers."

"Just be yourself. Be honest. Be fair. Show up for work when you are supposed to. Do your job to the best of your ability. It does get noticed."

"The pay is not commensurate with experience or expertise. Systems Monitors start at minimum wage. Three months later a 10 cent raise, and another one after another three months. After that it is a 25 cent raise every six months."

"Don't look just inside the company for hiring team leaders and management. Sometimes outside people can bring a lot more to the table and help your store excel."
