What do you like about working at Maxim Integrated Products?
"Really smart people who are willing to teach and mentor. Well diversified product portfolio. IN-house fabs and processes in addition to external 2nd sources. There are lots of resources to learn and improve one's knowledge and career IF you can find the time."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Know the fundamentals. Maxim is willing to teach you if you are smart. Until a few years ago, Maxim had a reputation of never having a layoff. This is no longer true. The company is as bad if not worse than industry peers. Don't let anyone lie to you about this."
What don't you like about working at Maxim Integrated Products?
"Managers work you to your maximum ability. It is hard to find the time to breathe, much less think or innovate at times. The company maintains a culture of hard work ethics but has woefully lost its sense of justly rewarding hard work. It has lost all sense of loyalty to employees and is ONLY beholden to major investors/shareholders. What benefits employees receive are merely what Maxim finds the minimum NECESSARY to maintain its reputation as a good company among its peers in the industry and/or not be guilty of breaking federal law. It no longer goes the extra mile to stand out as a company that values its workers. In Maxim's long history, layoffs and firings were done ONLY as a last resort. Now, by the CEO's recent (2011) actions, it is considered as a first move/sacrifice of pawns in the game of winning the most profits. In the CEO's own words, layoffs are viewed as a means of fixing the roof and it is best done when the sun is shining. The meaning is clear and the precedent has now been set: even though the company is doing great, Maxim is more than willing to layoff and fire its workers. Now, by the CEO's own admission, layoffs are done whenever it benefits the corporate good without regard for the employees. Fix the roof while the sun is shining Sounds more like Maxim is burning the fields while the sun is shining. And why? Because tomorrow it MIGHT rain."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Senior management should donate $25k-100k to a bonafide charity out of their own pockets for every employee the company lays off or fires. Go back to the 1 month/year-service severance package and include pro-rated bonuses if the company is financially capable of paying them."

What don't you like about working at Maxim Integrated Products?
"I worked there too short, just over 6 months, then I was laid off due to company size re-organization."
