"I have worked at MassMutual for 6 months and found that you cannot find people who have tenure beyond 1-2 years. There have been several reorganizations since I started resulting in new managers. With that being said, I enjoy the people that I work with and the work is interesting. I am learning a lot."

"MassMutual is extremely good to it's employees from my own personal experience. They shower you with benefits, competitive salaries, college reimbursement, other platforms for education that are free, and a lot more. The option to work from home is a super plus when you have kids, but this may differ from department-to-department. Although new fathers receive 8 weeks paid paternity and mothers receive upwards of 13 weeks (could be more). I definitely recommend it. The only con is the chance of whimsical layoffs. The company will go through bouts of shrinking and expanding (terminating some positions and opening others). Otherwise the severance package is amazing too lol!"

"I've been with the company almost four years. Almost all the people I originally knew are no longer with the company. The turn over for the sales agents and agency staff is unbelievably high--a quick revolving door. And many agents talked about how mean the company was at dismissing them... charging employees high fees, even some being turned over to the collection agencies because they didn't pay their office rent in total. Yes, you have to pay for everything when your sales are slow. The company uses an antiquated sales agency system. If you sell a lot "your expenses" are covered--meaning the company makes so much off your commissions it can pay your rent for you and even some office supplies. Yes, don't be surprised if an agency charges you for making copies on the copier. Some times these fees seem random like Home Office just decides one month to charge agents and see if anyone complains. There is a big disconnect between the local agencies in each state and the home office. Unless you have plenty of cash on hand and you like to push for insurance sales, I'd suggest finding a better company to work with... one that offers its employees something. This company doesn't offer its sales employees anything except a quota that you are supposed to meet or you get terminated."

"I have worked for MassMutual as a contractor for 7 months and like the project I am currently working on. It is a strong company with room for growth, but need to be an MM employee and not a contractor to get those opportunities."

"The company is profitable based on several acquisitions made during the 90's. At the field and agency level the people are great however from an corporate sales level the company is interested in maintenance and managing the risk of the existing products as opposed to growth."

"Slow decision making, misaligned business and IT strategies, disparate IT strategies in federated system."
