"Marshalls is a really great place to work, but there’s a disconnect when it comes to communication between the managers, which makes it frustrating on everyone else. I have been here for 2 years, and gone through 2 different managers and it seems like nothings changed. I love the people, I just need something new."
"Marshalls is a very organized retail company that caters for the average American. their products are of reasonable quality, and the service is very professional. The working environment is quite friendly for all categories of employees."
"This has been a wonderful company to work for over the past several years! They are very flexible with scheduling, and the company also makes an intentional effort to make you feel appreciated as an employee. One of the only issues with my specific Marshalls was the lack of reprimanding that occurred for those employees who called out regularly or chose not to show up to a shift entirely. They are very gracious when it comes to attendance. Overall, Marshalls has given me the opportunity to gain valuable customer service skills and advance various skill sets, and I recommend this job if you are looking for something hourly."
"I loved this Job because of the employers and co workers. Everyone literally brings great energy and you look forward sometimes to come to work. The supervisors are super understanding and they work with you. Also, the supervisors will make sure your trained and know what you are doing before throwing you out there."
"it's a great place to work as a part-time. you get a flexible schedule as well and encouraging and motivating co-workers."
"I think it's a good job to have in between other jobs but as I mention, it's more a job buffer. The people are usually nice but for the amount of work I do managing the front, the pay doesn't really add up effort-wise. But I understand the capital structure and the availability of funds."
"I've been with Marshall's for about 3 years. It is not a bad place to work at. The people are very friendly and the work is doable."
"I've worked for Marshall going on 10 months now. I've found it to be strong company to work for and good ethical values for their customers and their employees."
"There are NEVER hours because they are always cutting payroll, which has been a major issue for the past few years. As they are cutting all present employees hours, they are also hiring new people. Convenient to the company, but very inconvenient and unfair to those who have this as an only job, whether a single parent with not much money to feed their kids every night, or even for a college student who has to work to pay for tuition. There is always a "preference" or "favoritism" as to who should do what, who should be in charge, who gets what hours, etc. There should be no reason for the person making the schedule to ask employees what days they WANT to work. It's really unfair and no company should allow that to happen. A rotating schedule should be considered so that way everyone has a chance to have a weekend off. At one point I felt discriminated against because for quite some time I was overlooked at when I wanted to step up the ladder and never given the opportunity to grown within the company; there were always excuses. There is a lot of work to do with no help and it makes people feel undervalued. Not fair to have ONE single person working the front desk with customers making enormous amounts of returns PLUS purchases PLUS answering incoming calls PLUS having to process merchandise at the front desk when you're by yourself from 9 am opening time until 3 hours later when the "help" arrives. If you're looking for a full-time position...KEEP LOOKING! The customers can be awful at times, but as long as you provide good Customer Service they will be on the same page as you. After 7 years, and so many more issues i'm calling it quits!"
"Marshalls is a good company to get your foot in the door for in the job market and gain experience but not to stay unless you plan to move up the corporate ladder."
"I've worked for Marshalls since December 2012. The managers there are very knowledgeable and easy to work for. The compensation is not as good as other stores. They do not offer anyone full time employment so the chance for advancement is slim to none."
"First job worked and overall a good learning experience."
