Lori's Gifts Employee

"Doesn't feel like a real company. They hire uneducated people for their corporate office and it really shows in their lack of communication and discipline. Many were promoted up from the store level and they are so scared of losing their comfy jobs that they lose their self-worth and become these desperate people that would bend over backwards to get unreasonable tasks done. It is truly sad. The upper management most definitely takes advantage of this and treats everyone without a college degree like trash. This was verbally expressed to me on my review: they valued my education and how it set me apart from "many others here." The overall business plan is terrible. Their primarily focus is to increase their store fleet; no effort is put into improving or supporting the current stores. I believe they are increasing their stores so that they can be bought out by a bigger company. There is no marketing department. The CIO knows nothing about IT therefore the entire technology department is decades behind."

"Worked with a small team, I typically outlined and drove the development scope and plan."

What do you like about working at Lori's Gifts?

"They gave employee discounts. They had an excellent office space, and provided an ergonomicly good environment for the workers. I got my work done without too much interuption. Yes, I had several tasks to juggle at any given time, but each would be completed so that work could re-focus on the major project."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Yes, be stearn about your compensation. The IT Manager will focus on your skills, the COO will focus on your persona, so smile througout the interview."

What don't you like about working at Lori's Gifts?

"They had an unusual level of neglecting employee contentment in the workplace. They made some attempts, but I saw many unhappy faces. It just seemed like an atmosphere of DISTRUST. My manager was a pleasent person to work with, trusting and committed, but he had to answer to a sadly structured chain of command which would sometimes become an obstacle for the development team."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Care, trust and commit to your team as you would have them care, trust and commit to you. Sharpen managment skills by staying in tune with the latest techniques and team achievement methodologies just as you would in keeping up with your sales and technology journals."
