Learjet Careers & Info

Current CEO: Guy Hachey

Status: Active, subsidiary of Bombardier

Aviation has a long and interesting history. One of the most famous aircrafts ever created was the Learjet. During the production of prototypes for the Learjet, the plans to create the aircraft were aborted. The chance to make an impact upon the airline industry was almost lost forever. The original idea was to create a fighter aircraft by the Swiss American Aviation Corporation. William Powell Lear spearheaded the effort to create a ground-attack aircraft that would aid in military operations. After a number of failed attempts, the design of the airplane was altered and the purpose was changed to attract business use. These later models eventually experienced success, and Lear Jet Industries Inc. took flight. In 1990, the Bombardier Aerospace Corporation made the decision to purchase the company and take it into the next era of modern air transportation.

The current headquarters of the company is located in Wichita, Kansas. With such a distinctive product, Learjet careers run the gamut of airline industry needs. Skilled professionals experience a rewarding, challenging and forward thinking operation in designing and creating the future of aircraft. In addition to shaping the future of air travel, working at Learjet provides an opportunity to advance the technology of rail transportation. Helping people get to their destination safely and with the latest advances in technology, Bombardier continues to set the trend for modern aerospace transportation initiatives.

With a focus on keeping people moving in a timely manner, Learjet culture encourages innovative thinking within their entire workforce. With a philosophy of protecting the environment while devising viable transportation equipment allows professionals to impact their world in positive ways and plan for a sustainable future. Employees are encouraged to perform each work function with integrity and commitment toward total excellence in all they do. Serving the traveler, the workforce keeps their specific needs in mind.

Modern life presents a number of challenges toward creating a healthy work/life balance. With the understanding that employees need to care for themselves and their families, Learjet benefits are geared toward assisting in this manner. Financial incentives such as comprehensive medical and life insurance packages, stock options and retirement savings, flexible time off for holiday and family events and programs designed to help a career grow allow meeting this objective to become easier. In addition, a discount program for computers and Ford vehicles helps employees gain maximum value from their salaries.
