Long Beach City College Overview

Long Beach City College is a two-campus public community college serving more than 28,000 students annually. One of California's 112 community colleges, Long Beach City College offers nearly 1,000 courses and serves the Avalon, Lakewood, Long Beach and Signal Hill areas of Southern California. The college's Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) spans 112 acres in Lakewood Village and its Pacific Coast campus (PCC) is located on 30 acres along the Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.

The community college was established in 1927 with just 500 students. Long Beach City College split into three divisions in 1944 and two campuses in 1949. Programs and disciplines were added as the enrollment continued to grow over the years, culminating in more than 21 intercollegiate athletic programs and seven schools of study today.
