1.7Starting with the good: there are some incredibly talented people who work at Landmark in various departments. Some of which, I was able to forge quality, long-lasting friendships with. Also, I found the health insurance plan provides great coverage options and is affordable. Unfortunately, that is where the good ends.
If you are looking for professional development and growth, this is not the organization for you. Industry conferences and educational opportunities are not supported monetarily or in time off.
Creativity is lacking, at best. They are merely client specialist who sell rates and space. The client’s program goals and objectives are rarely factored into decisions when considering destinations, hotels, or program agendas; sometimes using ideas from the 80s and 90s. Using outdated terminology is just one example of how antiquated their systems are.
Thoughtful leadership is non-existent. Landmark, simply put, has “shift supervisors”. This micro-management does not come with coaching or support; instead, is a primary method to act as overseers.
Autonomy is frowned upon and in some areas, unacceptable. Every email, phone call, arrival, and departure time, and even lunch breaks are monitored and scrutinized. Yes, I said lunch breaks! When you sign your employment agreement, you must agree to only have lunch between 12:00-1:00pm, with little room for exception.
Privacy and Integrity are null. This tends to happen when you have a family-owned and managed business; therefore, if you have personal issues, you would be wise to keep it to yourself, as your information will be shared with “the family”.
Finally, I personally did not find this organization to be inclusive or diversified. In my opinion, the owner and management’s perspective on the world in general is completely out of touch with reality.someone who will bring in a fresh perspective on hiring practices, employee satisfaction and employee retention.
2.6Landmark is a difficult company to work for, as it is family-owned and there is no leadership in the office with an objective approach and ability to make sound business decisions - only managers who are hired from within the family and not qualified to do the tasks of their staff, let alone lead and develop them.
