"Management doesn't seem to have it totally together. I was told I was being kept after the seasonal period ended, but at the last minute they said they weren't keeping me."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get more scheduling/office staff. That way it's easier for the office to stay organized and up to date so that they won't be telling people false information, like they're going to hire you permanently and then last minute tell you otherwise."

"There is absolutely nothing I like about working at Kohl's."

"I would tell them to interview elsewhere. I do not like working at Kohl's."

"The managers do not listen to the employees. The focus is only on one part of the store. The pay is degrading for all the work they want the employees to do."

"Retail is not just about the customers. If the employees are not happy, then that filters down the line to the customers. Employee relations is top priority."

"I like the state of the art equipment and building, and the great support staff."

"I have absolutely no suggestions for management, as they have proven that they wouldn't listen anyway."

"Be prepared to work long hours and sacrifice days off and vacations. The company will draw a great picture of work-life balance."

"I don't like 12+ hour days, unrealistic expectations, district managers discussing performance openly in front of subordinates or another store's personnel, inconsistency among leadership, and poor situational leadership skills."

"Deliver recognition, do not consistently focus on opportunities, do not badger and belittle team and store leadership to subordinates and other leaders, recognize strengths in every leader, and fill roles based on ability and not favoritism."

"At the time the company was small, and there was no room for advancement."

"I like meeting new people, and the fact that I am able to have flexible hours. The people I work with are very nice. I love to help people make decisions about a certain type of makeup they should try or what piece of jewelry would fit perfectly with their outfit."

"Weigh your options. If there is something better out there, look into it. If Kohl's appears to be the best choice, ask for a slightly higher hourly rate."

What don't you like about working at Kohl's?

"The management is pushy. They give you a hard time when you need to call out because you have a sick child, and they are willing to dish out more work than you can handle but will not help when you tell them you need it."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would make the store a little more inviting to both the guest and the employee. They have steadily improved the store but it is very plain upon entering. Also, I would encourage the managers to be a little more people friendly and helpful to the employees. They are very pushy at getting certain things done and are not willing to help if needed."

"I understand the concept of business is to make money, but do not cut so many corners that customer service is affected, as well as employee morale."
