"I worked for JA for 12 years. It is a wonderful company that faces the challenges of small budgets, tight time frames, and non-profit guidelines. I loved the work, the customers, and my coworkers. Great place to work. The senior leadership is challenging and could stand to communicate a lot more effectively with the staff."

What do you like about working at Junior Achievement?

"My coworkers are very nice and capable people. I enjoy spending time with them and collaborating with them, when I am able to."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I don't think they would want me to talk to anyone who is interviewing. I'd say run."

What don't you like about working at Junior Achievement?

"There is no room to grow in my career, the management does not trust the employees to make decisions for themselves. I am held accountable for things that I feel like I have no control over."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would create a much more collaborative environment where everyone can contribute and have their opinions heard. I would ensure that all employees had the information necessary to do their job properly."

Special Events Coordinator

What do you like about working at Junior Achievement?

"I enjoy events and like meeting people. I find event day really fulfilling and energizing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I would shop carefully. There are plenty of Junior Achievement branches and they are not all created equal."

What don't you like about working at Junior Achievement?

"Management doesn't know what they're doing yet they interfere and prevent me from doing my job well. They scapegoat."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create an accurate budget, provide budgets for different departments (especially revenue generating departments that need to do cost benefit analysis), provide necessary training, provide regular reviews, bonuses and raises, make the organization much more transparent, get rid of under-performing employees or those who engage in unethical/unprofessional behavior. I would make it a requirement to experience the programs first-hand to better understand the mission and feel a commitment to and understanding of what we're working for. I would hire an HR manager that could protect us from illegal/unprofessional behavior and questions from higher ups and could provide accurate information on simple things like how much vacation time I actually have and what rate I accrue it at. I would make sure higher ups are not interfering with their employees' work in ways that are counterproductive, making more stress and work for no reason and making their jobs more difficult for nothing."

What don't you like about working at Junior Achievement?

"I don't like that there is no room for advancement."
