What do you like about working at JPMorgan?

"My colleagues in my department were all very bright, highly motivated individuals. The benefits were quite good, very much on par with what one expects of a bank officer position. The company usually did right by recognizing people for their efforts and talent."

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan?

"There were many of the same problems that any large multi-national corporation has: too many chiefs, not enough braves. At the time, JPMC couldn't decide if it was a bank with a technology focus, or a technology company focusing on banking. There were problems with departmental rivalries and department heads treating their turf as personal fiefdoms. The department was eventually dismantled because the new boss wanted to control everything from his office in Tampa."

Technical Officer
in Addison, TX

"Strong, successful company, but considerable bureaucracy when it comes to promotions and raises."

What do you like about working at JPMorgan?

"It is a strong and stable company with a variety of departments and services. Managing multiple projects with shifting priorities leads to a challenging, but often personally rewarding environment."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Outside hires are brought in at very competitive salaries, and this is a great company to build experience and gain exposure to a variety of software and financial applications. Overall, I enjoy the work I do and have a sense that my direct management recognizes my accomplishments."

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan?

"I dislike the considerable amount of guidelines and bureaucracy involved with promotions and raises, particularly when transferring between departments. My salary is 65 to 75% of that of my colleagues, though I am consistently ranked in the top 25% my peers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Promote more from within and loosen restrictions on pay percentage increases to retain top talent. Individuals performing like duties should be paid accordingly."
