HR representatives work in human resources. They are usually a sounding board for employees of a large business. When employees have some sort of problem in the workplace, they are able to go to HR representatives to work out those issues. The HR representative may have a role in interviewing employees, as well.
Skillset: An HR representative must be patient and reasonable. Because they often deal with complaints, they should be more than willing to put up with difficult situations. They must also be very analytical. They have to provide objective analysis and stay above the fray of difficult office politics.
Education: Those in HR will usually have studied management at the undergraduate level. Some programs offer a specific track in human resource management, though this is not true of every school. Some will study psychology, as well, to get more insights into the human psyche. This field does not have one specific educational requirement.
Career Path: An HR representative should start by getting the best education possible. This field remains competitive and people who get jobs typically do so because they have the top training. Job seekers should consider whether an internship might be the best move, since this is the way that most people break into the field.
