**Supervisor of Clinical Virology Lab (W2, direct hire)**Overview: Kelly Services is seeking a motivated, hardworking individual to join our clients team as a Supervisor of a Clinical Virology Lab. This is a direct hire role for a well-known and highly respected nonprofit biomedical research institute whose mission is to discover precise genomic solutions for human disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health.Under the general supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Manager and/or Clinical Laboratory Director, Clinical Virology Supervisor provides assistance in planning, organizing and preparing laboratory exercises in support of the Clinical Genomics Laboratory (CGL). A primary responsibility is to supervise laboratory personnel, overseeing clinical/production testing and troubleshooting issues if they arise. This position requires a high degree of technical abilities in molecular biology and virology. The position also requires administrative duties such as weekly laboratory updates, management of laboratory inventory, and other duties deemed necessary.Responsibilities: This role is responsible for demonstrating commitment to maintaining and supervising clinical production/research turnaround time objectives, quality, and continuous improvement. Supervise the operations of the laboratory technicians ensuring proper allocation of personnel and resources to ensure set turnaround times for clinical/research projects. Maintain project and sample information, protocols, and experimental details through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Development of process control and QA/QC measures. Ensure personnel follow prescribed SOP''s and practices to ensure compliance with CLIA/CAP certification. Provide weekly laboratory update reports to manager and CLD to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation to streamline the laboratory processes. This includes creating weekly/monthly reports on laboratory critical values to assist in noticing trends for remediation. Successfully sustain CLIA/CAP certification, including competency and proficiency assessments, training and safety. Assists in training of clinical genomic technologists. Directly oversees efficiency, documentation, SOPs, and general laboratory activity. Accurate and timely maintenance of operational metrics.Required skills and qualifications: Bachelors and/or Masters degree in biological or chemical sciences with demonstrated experience in a regulated laboratory environment (CLIA/CAP) ASCP Certification in Molecular Biology and/or Laboratory Management is required No less than 3 years of management / supervisory experience in a C:OA/CAP required. 2+ years of experience in product/clinical/research assay development is required Demonstrated experience in operating HTS and other molecular technologies. Demonstrated experience in implementing new methods in a CLIA-certified laboratory. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; and the ability to work in a highly cooperative team environment as well as independently. The ability to work in a demanding, fast paced, team-oriented environment, while maintaining a high-level of professionalism. Good organizational, communication, and strong computer database skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy as evidenced by demonstrated ability to accurately execute SOPs.
