The work location is in our Boise, Idaho; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Houston, Texas or Appleton, Wisconsin offices.
Roles and Responsibilities
Your career at POWER, Member of WSP will provide you an opportunity to work on continuous processing systems with an emphasis on the Chemical Industry and Renewable Fuels. You will utilize your experience to help companies ranging from small startup firms to large multinational firms. You will have the opportunity to work on all phases of a project, from the initial concept through the installation and commissioning of new lines, along with upgrades to existing production lines. Your unique skills will help our clients change and adapt their facilities and systems to meet the dynamic changes in their markets.
The Facilities Division is a full-service A & E consulting engineering firm that specializes and is a leader in Chemicals, Food & Beverage, Federal, and Industrial facility design.
Overall tasks:
Design of process systems including:
Mass and energy balances
Material flow analysis
Heat transfer calculations
Fluid flow/fluid mecahnics calculations
Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Support documentation packages for the successful completion of projects:
Work with clients on developing the scope of projects and providing the deliverables for these projects
Work with a design team that includes internal and external people in the development of general arrangement (GA), elevation layouts, Smart P&IDs, etc
Develop equipment specifications and documentation that meets clients design requirements
Develop Process Design Basis for unit operations for the process being designed
Develop equipment and installation cost estimations
Develop bid packages and construction packages
Customer and Vendor Site visits:
Support vendor FATs, SATs, reviews, and trials
Visit customer sites for data acquisition, meetings, design reviews and installation/start-up as needed
Required Education/Experience
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or Food Science Engineering preferred
2-5+ years of experience in the design and layout of processing lines
Hands on experience developing process simulations such as Aspen Plus
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Fluent in utilizing Microsoft Office products
Flexibility to work overtime as required
Adhere to POWER policies and procedures on project execution, technical and administrative
Ability to travel up to 20-50% within the United States
Desired Education/Experience
Exprience in various process platforms as Food processing - snacks, cereal, RTE, dairy, brewing, etc. Chemical processing - Thermal (gasification, pyrolysis), Hydrogen production {Electrolysis, SMR, etc}, gas separation and conditioning, distillation, RNG, LNG, Ammonia production & other specialty Chemicals, Hygienic Design, Pharma, etc.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 from an accredited university
Ability to participate in a design team environment
Growing knowledge of applicable health and process safety requirements and environmental concerns such as OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, FDA GMP regulatons, etc.
Software use knowledge with AutoCAD software suites, Revit, Navisworks, Plant P&ID, AspenPlus, MS Projects, etc.
Production experience is a plus!
Professional Engineering Liscense or ability to obtain one in a reasonable timeframe
Preferred location is Boise, Idaho; Appleton, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, MN or Houston, Texas; but open to discuss options for the right candidate

Base Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
