Job Summary:
The Controller is accountable for the overall financial management of the The Oasis at Death Valley resort operations. This position oversees the organizations accounting operations, and ensures compliance with financial regulations and producing accurate financial reports.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $88,192 - $111,550
Housing: Employee housing provided free of charge
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)
The Must Haves:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in hospitality accounting management.
CPA or CMA and National Parks accounting experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills and Excel skills.

Responsibilities:
Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behaviors with all guests and employees.
Implement appropriate procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily revenue reporting, weekly flash reporting and monthly financial reporting to property, regional and corporate management.
Work closely with the Southwest Regional Controller (“SRC”) to implement and monitor company policies and control procedures to safeguard all company assets.
Supervise the revenue auditing, payroll, internal audit (in conjunction with the SRC) and cash operations functions.
Complete monthly and YTD EBITDA reconciliations and forecast changes.
Work closely with the General Manager (“GM”) SRC to coordinate the preparation and review of the property’s annual profit plan and forecast changes.
Continuously monitor variances from budget and provide insight and support to aid in the achievement of budget goals. Make sure the GM and SRC are made aware of any significant variances or concerns.
Implement appropriate controls and audit procedures to ensure the accuracy of physical inventories and inventory valuations.
Participate in the implementation of appropriate procedures to ensure the accuracy of outlet tip and revenue reporting. Maintain daily tip records and report issues to the SRC and appropriate Food & Beverage management monthly.
Maintain appropriate procedures to ensure accurate and timely sales & use tax collection, reporting and payment. Maintain adequate records for audit purposes.
Ensure the completion of balance sheet reconciliations and review for accuracy and appropriateness of balances.
Work, closely with the SRC to continuously analyze accounting operations for efficient and effective utilization of accounting staff.
Work with the SRC in reviewing and responding to internal audit reports and facilitate the timely implementation of appropriate changes.
Assist in project analysis and selection as part of the annual capital budget process. Review capital expenditures prior to approval and submittal to corporate and ensure projects remain within approved budget.
Work with the SRC to establish appropriate goals and objectives for the accounting department.
Attend Property Director meetings and provide support for Directors as needed.
Maintain good communication and relations with the regional and corporate offices.
Facilitate and document annual departmental refresher trainings with all employees, to include “Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Awareness” and “Emergency Action Plan procedures.”
Assist on special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
