ER Unit (Level IV Trauma Center) Submission Guidelines & Requirements License Location: Candidate’s driver’s license must show an address located 50+ miles away from the facility. Perm/Traveler Return Policy: Former perm staff must be gone for at least 2 years. Former travelers must have completed a full 1-year contract and been gone for 2 years. Unit-Specific Requirements: Refer to Pulse for unit details. Travel Pairs: Must be submitted together in one email. Driver's License: All submissions must include an unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license. Vaccination Requirements COVID-19 Vaccine Required. Fully vaccinated = 2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna or 1 J&J dose. ER Unit Details Facility Type: Level IV Trauma Center ER Beds: 18 (can expand to 21 using hall beds) Safe Room: Room 5 for behavioral/psych patients Patient Volume: ~60 patients/day (post-COVID; previously ~90/day) 10% pediatric patients Common Diagnoses: CHF, COPD, DM, heroin overdoses, COVID, behavioral health Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS EPIC experience is required Staffing & Ratios Ratios: 1:3–4 Charge RN: On-site 24/7 (covers triage ~6 hours/day) Monitor Tech: On-site 24/7 Support Staff: Floor Tech: 7pm–3am (Mon–Fri), 3pm–3am (Sat/Sun) Transporter: 11am–7pm, 5 days/week Security: On-site 24/7 No IV Team: Strong IV skills required (ED RNs assist with floor IVs) Additional Clinical Info Drips: RNs initiate/titrate all (except chemo); mix own after-hours Vents/Respiratory Support: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow (managed by RT) RT: 24/7 Pharmacy: Not 24/7. RN to mix meds after hours. Support from on-call pharmacist. Scheduling Details Shifts: 12-hour shifts Start times: 7a, 9a, 10a, 11a, 1p, 3p, 7p No day/night rotation Block/self-scheduling may be allowed but not guaranteed Final schedules approved by manager Weekend Requirement: ~4 weekend shifts/4-week schedule Holiday Rotation: Travelers are part of the major/minor holiday rotation Orientation & Training Day 1: ID badge, security, educator, Pyxis/Accudose/equipment Day 2: EPIC (~1–2 hours), remainder on floor Day 3: Independently on the floor
